Entertainment Award Season – Post Celebration Bash
Client Category: Consumer Electronics
The client desired brand recognition through traditional entertainment marketing and sponsorship efforts surrounding and capitalizing on media during the entertainment award season.
In developing the visibility of the brand, Explicit Mktg. paired the client with the two largest and most prestigious award shows representing the film and music industries, The Academy Awards and The Grammy Awards, respectively. EM incorporated all three of their essential marketing strategies to enhance and execute on expanding the client’s brand awareness. EM partnered the brand with the hottest after parties associated with each of the previously named events, both with significant talent attached to attend and perform. The post-Oscar bash was an intimate affair with Hollywood’s a-list held at the multi-million dollar home of music icon Prince. The Grammy after party, co-hosted by Entertainment Weekly, was held in honor of music industry veteran LA Reid. The media impact from the events included photos of talent interacting with the client’s products, talent walking the photo line in front of a branded media wall, video interviews and candid shots taken within the event. These digital assets continue to appear in online media mentions and in print. As award season approaches each year, the assets are reused in stories discussing the attendees and parties from years past. EM seeks opportunities that provide a lasting impact for their clients with a singular sponsorship opportunity.
ESPY Awards
Client Category: Lifestyle Brand
A lifestyle brand sought awareness and exposure beyond the audio and electronic industry surrounding the launch of their new headphones.
Explicit Mktg. (EM) produced a celebrity seeding program to establish brand advocates and enhance awareness for the launch of the client’s new product. By partnering the brand with one of the biggest events in sports, the ESPY Awards, and a wide reaching cable network, ESPN, EM propelled the brand’s name beyond the traditional electronic influencer and consumer base. Partnering with an event like the ESPY Awards, where Hollywood merges with the sports world for a night of entertainment and accolades, the client immediately increases their exposure through this multi-industry cross pollination. EM crafted the partnership and media buy around the event to bring elite athletes, digital media partners and VIP attendees onboard as ambassadors for the product. EM negotiated a license arrangement whereby the client produced a limited edition co-branded version of the headphones with the ‘ESPYs’ brand integrated into the product. After the awards show, EM secured quotes, photos and interviews with the athletes and attendees interacting and discussing the product for media use. These newly appointed brand advocates were tweeting and posting Facebook updates about the headphones leading into and following the event. EM used the digital media partners and sports bloggers to review and help drive product awareness and send traffic to a client hosted give-a-way page where winners would receive a pair of the limited edition co-branded headphones. EM solidified the campaigns cross platform outreach through the expansion into and integration of digital media.

The Runaways – Feature Film Premiere & After Party
Client Category: Dual Marketing Strategy
Create a mutually beneficial sponsorship supporting the Los Angeles premiere of “The Runaways” starring Hollywood darlings Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning, both of Twilight fame, and a premium speaker brand.
Explicit Mktg. (EM) attached the premium speaker brand as a sponsor of the Los Angeles premiere of the movie “The Runaways,” based on the band of the same name. The sponsorship supported both the films premiere and exclusive after party. Media outreach across broadcast, print and digital were used throughout the campaign to promote both the brand and the actual premiere. With some of Hollywood’s hottest young talent starring in the movie EM found media partners with demographically similar fan bases and an interest in the movies subject, to host product and ticket give-a-ways to the premiere. At the premiere, talent interacted and autographed products from the sponsor for a post premier charity auction. Managing both the film and brand, EM controlled the creative buzz and messaging that went out to the press and managed the impact to produce a mutually beneficial outcome.

Sundance Independent Film Festival
Client Category: Home Theater
Partner a home theatre brand with a sponsorship opportunity benefiting the independent filmmaker and secure an association with a respected and well-received institution, bringing two likeminded companies together.
Explicit Mktg. (EM) attached the client as an Official Provider of the Sundance Film Festival. As such, the brand was represented in all print and electronic publications through the Sundance Institute for all festival activities. The client provided in-kind goods, logistic and monetary support and additional services as needed to the festival. EM represented the brand at events held throughout the run of the film festival where attendees were able to interact with the client products and experts. Coming out of the festival, the brand was associated with strong celebrity influencers and other brands that support independent filmmaking. Media exposure was enhanced across the festivals digital outreach, increasing the scope of the impressions and the brand awareness exponentially.
